I wonder whether the reason we (collectively) usually reminisce about the past, claiming “it was better back then” is because it was rather – to put it more accurately – just a little Less worse. Global Capitalism’s advance was a little less, it hadn’t swallowed as many little bits of freedom and individuality, which bit by bit make life a little bit more worth living.
Year by year the advance of this vacuum grows. One day nothing will be left to hold on to but bitter anger.
